FAQ for Bed and Breakfast Guests

Great!   You've reserved a room at La Maison Marigny, the best little inn on Bourbon Street!

Here are a few answers to questions we've been asked over the years:

When will you charge my credit card?  What is the cancellation policy?
For answers to these questions, take a look at your email confirmation carefully.    Not only does it answer these questions but also has your estimated arrival time listed.   If it says "TBA" you should notify us a couple of weeks prior to arrival, at the latest, so we can make sure we're home when you arrive!

How do I get from the airport to the B&B?
Easy!   Taxis are a fixed price of $33, plus tip, to any location in the French Quarter area.   Just give the cab driver the address (1421 Bourbon) and you're off!   You may want to mention that we're "across Esplanade" so he/she can exit the interstate at Esplanade Avenue.   We do not recommend the airport shuttle service.

What's the immediate neighborhood like?
The B&B is in a fairly unique location as we straddle the border between the French Quarter and the Faubourg Marigny, one of America's "hippest" neighborhoods according to some national magazines!   Our block is all-residential and within a block or two we have a convenience store, a few restaurants, a couple of bars (this is New Orleans!) and lots of historic homes with great architecture.  It is an old neighborhood, dating back to the early 1800s.   Unless you happen to live in the older part of an older city, chances are that it will be different from your home neighborhood!

Does the B&B have hair dryers?  irons?  umbrellas?
Yes, yes and yes.   We also have in-room iPod docks/stereos so you can leave that iPhone charger at home, too.   (For any other phone model, remember to pack your charger.)   We also have an in-house computer with printer so you may or may not want to travel with your laptop.   If you do, rest assured that we have complimentary WiFi throughout the house.

Should I bring shampoo and soap?
Not at all!   We have shampoo and bath gel in environmentally-friendly shower dispensers.   We even have a few extra toiletries in case the airline loses your bag!

I assume the rooms have air conditioning and heat?
Of course!   Central air units provide both floors with abundant cool air or heat, as appropriate.   It's an old house and isn't as efficient as we'd like at times but rest assured that guest rooms stay quite comfortable!

Should I arrange tours in advance?
Generally, we can arrange most tours once you arrive.   There are a few companies we've worked with over the years and we know them to be dependable, provide good value at a fair price and offer pickup service directly from our front door.

How about restaurants?
This is a city that loves to eat and if you want to dine at the top restaurants, advise us so we can book a reservation for you.

I have special dietary needs.  Can you accommodate?
Sure, as long as it's reasonable.  Our normal breakfast service consists of eggs, meats, fantastic breakfast casseroles, pancakes/waffles, fresh-baked goods, fruit, cereals, yogurts, coffee, juices, etc.    Menu changes daily so it's always a pleasant surprise!

I am driving to New Orleans or will rent a car.   Parking?
We have a limited number of parking permits which allow you to ignore the parking restrictions in the neighborhood.  Anyone can park for two hours.  Our guests can park for as long as they want!   Since it's street parking, though, finding a space is up to you.   Generally, it's quite easy and you can find a space in the 1400 block of Bourbon but nearby blocks are okay, too.   We don't recommend renting a car in most cases but we know some people prefer to have one.   That's cool!

Public transit options?
New Orleans has a nice system of streetcars and buses that can get the visitor to most places pretty easily.   For route information, try the Regional Transit Authority website.

I have a cute dog.  Can she come?
Sorry, but no.   The B&B isn't pet-friendly nor do we accept children under the age of 18.   We're not trying to be mean but many adults are here on a break from kids and pets and we want to respect that!
